1. Scope and responsibility
This notice applies to this website and the information submitted directly through it. The site provides HOMCOM product information and links to official Aosom stores. Purchases, customer accounts, payments, delivery and activity on an external Aosom or other third-party website are governed by that website's own privacy notice.
For personal information this site collects directly, Aosom LLC is the organization responsible and the privacy contact. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to the contact details in section 9. Where United Kingdom or Canadian privacy law applies, we handle the information described here under the standards and rights set out below.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Newsletter: your email address, the date and time of subscription, and the version of the consent notice.
- Contact form: your name, email address, subject, optional order number, message, and submission date and time.
- Privacy requests: the details needed to understand, verify and answer your request.
Information generated when you use the site
- Essential preference data: your cookie-category choices, notice version and choice date stored in your browser.
- Technical and security data: hosting and security systems may process IP address, browser and device type, requested URL, timestamps and error or security events.
- Content-delivery data: Aosom image delivery services and, on some editorial pages, Unsplash may receive IP address, browser details and the requested image URL when product or editorial images load.
- External media data: if you allow External media, YouTube may receive device, network and interaction information when an embedded video loads.
3. Why we use information
| Purpose | Information | UK basis / consent approach |
|---|---|---|
| Respond to messages and support requests | Contact-form details | Steps requested by you and legitimate interests in providing support |
| Send requested brand news | Email and subscription record | Your express consent; you may withdraw it |
| Operate, protect and troubleshoot the site | Technical, security and essential preference data | Legitimate interests, legal obligations, and technologies strictly necessary to provide the service |
| Load optional analytics or marketing | Data described by the selected category | Your prior, category-specific consent |
We do not use refusal of optional technologies to deny access to product information or essential site functions.
5. Sharing and international transfers
Information may be available to authorized site administrators and service providers that host, secure, maintain or support the site. Aosom image-delivery networks and Unsplash may process limited network information to deliver images. YouTube may receive technical connection information when its privacy-enhanced player loads. Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect legal rights or safety, or as part of a business reorganization subject to appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell personal information, and this theme does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising. If that practice changes, the notice and controls must be updated before the activity begins.
Because the site is available internationally, information may be processed outside your state, province or country, including in the United States. Where UK or Canadian law requires it, transfers are made using applicable contractual, organizational and technical safeguards, such as an adequacy mechanism or approved contractual clauses. Authorities in another jurisdiction may lawfully access information under that jurisdiction's laws.
6. Retention and security
Newsletter records are kept until you withdraw consent or they are no longer needed for the stated purpose. Contact messages and privacy-request records are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. Technical logs follow the hosting or security provider's operational retention schedule.
Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used to protect information. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure, so please do not include payment-card data, passwords, government identifiers, health information or other sensitive information in the contact form.
7. Your regional rights
United States
Depending on your state and applicable thresholds or exemptions, you may have rights to know or access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of personal information; to opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising or certain profiling; to limit certain sensitive-information uses; and to appeal a denied request. You will not be discriminated against for exercising an applicable right. We honor applicable GPC signals for the browser or device that sends them.
United Kingdom
Subject to applicable conditions, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability or objection; withdraw consent at any time; and complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
Canada
You may request access to and correction of personal information, ask questions about our practices, and withdraw consent subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Depending on your province, additional rights may apply, including portability or rights concerning automated decisions. You may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the applicable provincial regulator.
How to make a request
Email customerservice@aosom.com or use the contact form and write “Privacy Request” in the subject. State the country and state or province where you live and the right you want to exercise. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify the request. Authorized-agent requests may require proof of authority. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.
8. Children
This site is a general-audience product-information site and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly request personal information from children under 13. In the United Kingdom or Canada, a parent or guardian should provide any required consent where a child cannot validly provide it under applicable law.
